Tastings.com 95 pt. 2013 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (PDF)
Exceptional. Dark dusty garnet color. Inviting aromas of Dr. Pepper, porcini mushroom, and oolong tea with a lightly tannic, bright, dryish light-to-medium body and an intricate medium-long wet earth, eucalyptus, rose and black pepper, and sponge cake with dried cassis finish. A concentrated Pinot Noir with complex hedonistic flavors.

Tastings.com 89 pt. 2013 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir (PDF)
Highly recommended. Bright brick red color. Fruity aromas and flavors of cherry cola, cinnamon, vanilla fondant, and redwood forest with a lightly tannic, lively, dryish light-to-medium body and a warming, amusing, medium-long cherry lonzenge, iron rich soil, and sage finish with dusty, earthy tannins and light oak. A well structured Pinot Noir asking to be cellared.

“The wine opens with bright fruit aromas and a bouquet of brown spice, floral notes, and faint tobacco that complement the ripe flavors of Bing and dried red cherries with touches of cranberry and nutmeg. The flavors are lively yet rich and they lead into a silky finish.”

“It’s inky opaque, with lots of red raspberries and the medium tannins… It has a silky smooth finish… like silk sheets. A bit more substance than the satin sheets, but both are ever so smooth and delicious.”

ReverseWineSnob.com
“Tasting the medium to full-bodied wine reveals a wonderful combination of deep, tart, sweet dark berry and cherry fruit plus excellent earthy notes to balance it out. Smooth and savory, this is a heck of a nice example of Pinot Noir.”

“Moderately light reddish purple hue in the glass. The deeply aromatic nose offers a very pleasing marriage of black raspberry, dark cherry and rose petal scents. Noticeable fruit presence and a deft touch of oak make this cherry-driven offering a delight. Nicely balanced, with a modest, but gratifying and elegant finish.”

“…light ruby-garnet color in the glass. Give this wine some time to open up and you will be rewarded with earthy, berry bramble aromas that clearly identify it as Pinot Noir. Cherry and cranberry flavors combine with smooth tannins and a light body to produce a wine that is elegant and well balanced.”
