2012 Pinot Noir, San Luis Obispo
Windrun 2012 Pinot Noir
San Luis Obispo

Composition: 100% Edna Valley grapes; mixed, modest oak appropriate to the variety.

Nose & Palate: Medium intensity black and red cherry; allspice, soft vanilla, hints of brown sugar and licorice; herbal notes on aeration. Medium body; generous balance of fruit and spice, and integrated acidity supports the fruit through the medium-length finish and soft, round tannins; chocolate notes.

Description: Match with salmon, fowl, pork, all cheeses, cream or garlic-and-oil (but non-tomato-base) pastas. Great as an apertif. A wine that is elegant and balanced, firm but gentle, styled more like a classic Pinot Noir than “new world” wines that are muscular rather than seductive.

Awards: 93 points (gold), 2015, Beverage Tasting Institute; 89 points, 2014, Edible Arts; 87 points, 2015, Sommelier Challenge; Silver, 2014, Hilton Head Island International Wine Competition.
